The Payne County Detention Center was completed in 2009, The 75,000 sq. ft. facility houses up to 404 male and female inmates. The detention center has 23 staff members including a kitchen supervisor and a facilities maintence person. The Payne County Detention Center provides many programs for inmates giving them the resources and tools to enhance the quality of life and lower recidivism.

UPS driver, neighbors save 101-year-old woman from house fire
SANTA ANA, Calif. (CNN) - A 101-year-old woman in California was saved from a kitchen fire by a group of quick-thinking neighbors and a UPS driver. The fire happened Thursday in Santa Ana. According to the Orange County Fire Authority, neighbors rushed to the woman’s home after seeing smoke.

A 2009 child pornography allegation resurfaces in case agains Scott James Soucek Scott James Soucek, 56, of Sturgeon Bay, was charged with 10 counts of Class D Felony possession of child pornography between March 1 and July 24, 2025. Each of the 10 counts carries a potential fine of up to $100,000 and/or imprisonment for up to 25 years.
